Many Hands Make Light Work...

Yesterday afternoon, I came home from school, very tired out. The week prior to finals is difficult -- professors are trying to give their last quizzes and exams -- the course specialists are trying to get the scores from the tests in and loaded on Canvas -- the students act like they are already out of school and are difficult to control -- PLUS, throw in an earth quake drill where we have to leave the school and practice what we would do if there actually was an earth quake.

Needless to say, I was exhausted when I arrived home. I decided some good ole' manual labor might be just what I needed to make me feel better. I changed
my clothes and headed outside to work in the yard.

The cutest little boys in the world next door were outside playing and when they saw me, they all came running to help. It was chilly and they did not have on jackets, hats or gloves, so I sent them back home to get some warm clothes. When they came back out, they had their
"farmer" gloves and their Dad's gardening tools with them -- ready to work!

I was cutting down all the willow trees that come up along side the drive way
(which are hundreds). I would cut and they would haul the little trees to a pile. Soon, Noah was cutting down trees -- then Jack and Eli had to get in on the lumber jack work as well.

In no time at all, my trees were cut down and in large piles. Eli told me his Dad had told them they were not allowed to use his tools any more. The boys were called to dinner, but left me with the new, sharp tree trimmer. I finished up my work and Rajko came to spend the evening, so I took the tree timmer in the garage.

Soon, there was a knock at my door and Noah came to collect the tree trimmer so he could put them back where they belong for his Dad.

The trees are cut down, the tree trimmers are put away, the cut trees are stacked neatly in a pile and the boys...on their own...did a good deed. I've heard the old cliche`, "...many hands make light work..." definitely rings true for the events of last night. I am so thankful and happy for what these boys have been taught. I am glad and again thankful for their thoughtfulness for me.

I love my little boys and their ambition and helping hands. I love having the grandchildren close enough they can just "run over" and help me with my needs.

Life is good!

what a blessing to have grandsons living closeby, and especially ones who are willing to come and work along side their grandma. my boys always worked with their grandparents and they developed a great relationship and love for them. Nothing better than the love between grandparents and their grandchildren.

If you think YOU enjoy having them help, you should know how much THEY enjoy it! For some reason helping mom is never fun, helping dad is sometimes fun, but helping GRANDMA is ALWAYS fun! Thanks for letting them "help" even though sometimes it is more work!

How awesome...you have been so amazing to help with my yard work, it's only fair that someone was there to help you! Send those boys my way. I have 1,000,000 sticks that they can put into a pile!! Their labor seems pretty cheap, too. :)

We are SO lucky to live here so close and have the opportunity to "help". The next day, Jack asked if he could go back and do more tree trimming!
