Down On The Farm...

So much happens in our lives...I am amazed at how much we just let "go by" without documentation or notation of events. So many important things happen that make our lives really exciting, eventful and happy. I want to express my feelings of joy and happiness so that future generations know how much I love my life, my family and the gospel of Jesus Christ!

The day my first grandson covenanted to take upon himself the name of Jesus Christ! So proud of such a fine young man...and his parents who teach him correct principles.

Our beautiful, talented daughter...who is one of the Top 10 Dance Directors in the America Onstage Circuit...showering her beautiful, talented daughter, Ellie, with love and approval over her solo, which she earned a 1st place!

Both Tess and Mia competed their solos and also scored top in their categories! Tess was very scared, but not as much as Tim who said, "My stomach was flip flopping and turning the whole time she danced!" Cute Dad. Of course, Mia won everyone's heart!

Our little Evan Boy celebrated his 2nd birthday by getting....farm equiqment! Now he can "brumm brumm" all day!

Saturday, June 5th, was the big round day Down On The Farm. Our good friends, Rod Maxfield, Mike and Jodi McNulty, and Rick rode the river bottoms to gather up all the cattle so they could be moved to the Church Farm. Allen and Sam rode 4-wheelers for speedy chases and moving from one place to another quickly. Olivia, Patrice, Rob, Evan, Luke, Noah, Eli and I all posted ourselves in open gates along the road so the cattle would not go into anyone's yard and would keep moving down the road. Once we got all the cattle moved, the fun began.
Mike cut the cattle and moved them to the run, where Sam would push them toward the shoot. Notice the horse Mike is riding...it belongs to Rick, but Mike has trained him and he worked really well!

Patrice quickly moved into "farm girl" mode, as she filled the shot needles so each little calf could get it's innoculation!

Running the squeeze shoot takes quick hands and muscle....perfect job for Rick and Allen! Is that a cute little face? A shot and a new pair of earrings make everything just right!

Sam's job is getting the cattle down the run so they can get in the shoot when it is their turn. He's perfect for the job...a big heart and lots of muscle!

Meanwhile, Earl cut the meaty part of his thumb and I super glued it down, but with all the action, the glue didn't hold. He had to take a break to run to the doctor for 14 stitches! Allen took Earl's place and Billie Jo just happened along, and took Allen's place! Down on the Farm, there is always a job waiting for everyone!

How about those two handsome cowpunchers...Luke and Noah are in on the action and ready and willing to work!

As soon as Earl came back, he had to see if he was approving of Allen doing his job. It must have been good because there were no offers to take over!

Mia and Evan look on to see if everything is meeting their approval.

Noah and Luke are either enjoying the view or giving Sam advice?!?!?

Growing up on a farm is just about the best life a kid can ask for. I can't imagine a more natural setting for instilling the wonder and awe of this beautiful world Heavenly Father created than to experience it first hand!

Every time one of the cows would bawl loudly, Evan would say, "Dad! Cow mad!"

At the end of the day, all is peaceful and well. The cows are muching the long, succulent grass, the horse is enjoying a bit of a rest, and the cowpokes are eating watermelon and sipping peppermint water to cool off! The River is wildly rushing and making a new path in the next field over, as the heat of the sun has melted the snow from the high country. But, Down on the Farm, the kids from the country are in good shape!

As we gather the next day, the kids continue building their friendships and taking care of each other.

Sunday, we all got together after church to enjoy one another's company. The food was good, the weather was perfect, the dogs were well-behaved, and the kids grew a little from all the experiences!

Mom, your posts are always so full, so poetic, and so beautiful! I wish we could have made it for the big round up...what a blast! But I'm so glad we've been able to spend this week here. Thank you for taking such amazing care of us and showing us what a perfect place this is to live. We can't wait to be here full time so Rajko can be part of life down on the farm. We love you!!

Oh I love this post. Nothing like capturing the day. I had so much fun and so did Evan. We can't wait until Cow day next year. (Can I call it "Cow day" since I'm not sure what the real name is?)

I love that there is always something to do down on the farm! It is so great to share in these projects as a family. The girls would love to get in the middle of the projects and pretend they are cowgirls. Including their flip flop wearing mom! I am a country girls after all. You are so good to take pictures of every thing. Could you follow me around and take pictures of what happens!

Oh Mom, I am packing our bags as we speak, because I want to live down on the farm! Really, there is so much of life that Jack and I miss out on by not being there and I really wish we could be. For whatever reason, we're not, but when the day comes, it truly will feel like Heaven for us!!!!

I love what a beautiful write you are. I wish the whole world could see it and see the world the way you live. Your descriptions are beautiful. I love it and love you!
