Woodland Chokecherry Fest.......

Woodland Chokecherry Fest - Saturday, September 25th

It is time for the second annual Woodland Chokecherry Fest! Last year, several Woodlandites got together and hosted the Chokecherry Fest and by the time it was over, we all said, "This is something we will do for a long, long time to come! Last year, the day was as beautiful and charming as life in Woodland!
Sue and Orion Bishop were in charge of the 5 K run! The participants were few, but the run from Bench Creek--which was the original settling of Woodland--to the Woodland Fire Station was great! I believe Rick Gunnerson's brother was the winner of the run, and Rick's two boys ran too. This year, there will be the a 5 K run with a really cool shirt for those who pre-register and great prizes for the winners . For those who don't pre-register, there is a Woodland Chokecherry shirt (that's really cool too). There is also a 1 mile run/walk for kids with prizes! The 5-K will begin at 9:00 am and the kids walk/run will begin at 10:00 am. Call Giselle Rasheta for pre-registration - 435-513-0834.
Beau Dee Richards and Amanda Blazzard had a great booth at the Boutique full of LOTS of wonderful jewelry, gourmet caramel apples, Pampered Chef and other very fun items! I know Jennie Phillips is having an antique/collectibles booth this year--which promises to be wonderful! To participate in the boutique, call me...at 783-4602 (leave a message and I will call back).
Terri Baldwin had a good "time" selling her designer watches. I am hoping for some other really exciting vendors, maybe wrapping paper and "squeaker shoes."
The Fudge Fairy joined the Boutique with so many delectable, fine candies--no one left without a grin on their face (of course, they are guaranteed NOT to add inches on your waist)!
The Hawkins provided horse-drawn wagon rides for everyone and who better to be our lovely tour guide than Paula Beasley to share the history of Woodland with the passengers. The Hawkins are good enough to provide the wagon ride again and Paula will share more "historical" tidbits with you.
Artists were at work painting faces for the kids and did they ever look great!
The petting zoo hosted by Wendy and Becca Johnson was a huge hit!
Choosing a pumpkin and then decorating it provided lots of entertainment.
Elizabeth and Jann helped children create pioneer dolls to take home.
Monica Saxton kept everyone busy with activities! This year promises even bigger and better!
And what could be any better than great music by Rod , cowboy poetry, and....
great cooks--John Moon and Dana Dewey--, great company, and...good friends!
This year, there will be a musical/theater dinner show, with descendants from some of the first settlers participating. This will be a fantastic show! For dinner reservations, call me...again, 783-4602. So, mark your calendars now to make some new memories visiting old friends, sharing good times, and eating great food and enjoying great entertainment! There is a great new website at www.kamasconnect.com to check out for information about the Woodland Chokecherry Fest....Saturday September 25th.
