Fall is in the air...

I feel it coming...it's in the breeze...
I haven't seen it in the trees...
Yet...

There's morning frost on the ground
And the rustle of the aspen has a fallish sound.

Fall is Coming!

It is time for the WOODLAND CHOKECHERRY FESTIVAL! We--Olivia, Giselle, Debbie and I--have all been working toward getting the word out. We passed out ads both in the 24th of July and the Labor Day parades. Ads will go on the TV and signs will go up. Friday, Sept. 23rd, we are having a Brenn Hill Concert at the high school. The tickets are only $12 each, which is unreal, because they are $22 each for his concert at Cowboy Poetry. I am so excited! I love Brenn Hill's music...I can relate to his lyrics so well! The Festival is on Saturday, Sept. 24th at the Woodland Fire Station. For more information and details, see www.chokecherry.org.

Tom and Bonnie came to Utah to visit their kids, so that was a good enough reason to get together for dinner. There was, of course, an abundance of food and fun!

Some of the family continued their celebration at the Francis Frontier Days rodeo, where DeLoy's bull, "Cache$$$" bucked off two cowboys. "Cache" is a bull out of one of Will Gines' rodeo bulls, who would not stay out of Earl's field full of beef cattle, therefore, "Cache" came in to being. DeLoy traded Earl a heifer for the rodeo bull for Cache to practice riding.
This picture does not do justice to the true beauty of this beautiful field of oats. This is one of Earl's fields just prior to cutting. The different, more green plants you see are peas, which will just add a little fiber to the cattle's diet. He has another 20 acres on the church farm and another 20+ on Bench Creek. When the wind blows a little and the oats move in the breeze, it really is pretty. Table Top Mountain in the background is a well-known landmark against the Wasatch Range.
When I left the house the other morning around 7:20 am, it felt quite damp and chilly. I didn't get very far down the road and I could see the mist. The sun streaming onto the hillside in the background, the mist on the ground, the old wooden fences and the golden weeds all joined together for a beautiful picture. I just had to stop and document what I saw.
I love fall! I am sad to see the end of summer, but fall always removes any apprehension I feel for the cooler weather. I feel it coming, so I might as well embrace it!

I LOVE your posts. I can just imagine you tight next to me and telling me all about was is going on. I am so happy that you are glad fall is coming, but wasn't it snowing a month ago??? I don't think I could get used to not having a big summer. Love you and miss you so so much!
